The Big Easy Food Tour

I have been swamped. I had intended to just start the New Year with planning and catching up. But whoa! In Nov-Dec I got approached to do six, yes SIX shows/events.

Of course there was no way I could do all of them, but I’m managing four, somehow. Events are listed below. Prepare for an onslaught of art.

And in the middle of January was a business trip to New Orleans and the Halloween Show for my day job. There was so much to see in and outside of the tour.

So I’m going to break it down in a few blogs, starting with this brief food tour.

First night, just a block from the Hampton Inn by the Convention Center in NOLA, a club sandwich and waffle fries at Dino’s. Huge portion, delicious!

2nd Night, Bourbon Street, Felix’s. The line for Acme was around the block so this huge portion happened in front of me instead:

Then we discovered Butcher, only a couple blocks from the hotel. So good we ate there twice! Scrumptious spicy roasted turkey with mac n cheese. Outstanding both times!

We took a little side step from Cajun and went Mexican at El Gato Negra NOLA. Again fabulous:

Then dessert before dinner. Beignets at the world famous Cafe DuMonde. I had hot cocoa too. Tasty as the legend promised:

I then got alligator, shrimp, ribs, and double stuffed baked potato at Cochon, which I later found out was Butcher’s sister restaurant. Both places were just yummy!

And on the last night, NOLA’s on Bourbon:

Another surprise, didn’t know it was owned by the famous Emeril! Magnificent.

Much more to come in the coming weeks!

As always, thank you for reading,
